Ooh, a psychedelic theme this week! I know that this is going to seem so boring and repetitive and downright stupid (since I'm saying it, because I didn't really pay that much attention to him), but the definiton of funky (according to http://www.dictionary.com/) is characterized by originality and modishness. The person everyone is thinking of now that is characterized by their originality and modishness is, of course, Michael Jackson. I didn't really pay that much attention to him when he was alive, but now that he's gone, I started listening to his music and I realized how good it really is. My brother is teasing me for listening to him now. "You didn't even care before he died!" Yeah, I know that. That doesn't forbid me from listening to him. Happened before, too, with Heath Ledger. Now, Heath Ledger is one of, like, my gods. Michael Jackson really is a great singer. I know that I enjoy his music, whether he is alive or dead, and I know that many generations lost a pop icon, a very funky man indeed. L.I.M. Michael Jackson!

His music, in the 70s, 80s and early 90s, was very good. No debating the man was very talented. And also supremely weird, without a doubt. Sad his life end so ... confused, I guess. Enjoy the music and forget the rest, I suppose.
ReplyDeletea fitting tribute..he really was an artist...and as most eclectic...enjoy the tunes!
ReplyDeleteNever mind, Nicole. Apart from Thriller, I would be hard pressed to name one of Michael Jackson's songs. I'm afraid his weirdness got in the way of my interest in him - but he was certainly an original.
ReplyDeleteMichael had some funk in him, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI, too, prefer to concentrate on his talent, mostly from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s, before things got too weird.
ReplyDeleteIt's never too late to discover someone! Now that he's in his next career, wonder what will happen?
ReplyDeleteI am from the camp of: MJ was totally harmless....
